Shoprite Centurion New Workshop Facilities
The first EDGE Advanced certified building in Equites’ Shoprite distribution centre portfolio at Centurion, Gauteng.
The Shoprite Centurion Workshop is a new light industry facility located in Centurion, Gauteng. It combines truck maintenance capabilities with administrative flexibility. The building envelope has been designed and constructed for performance and reduced resource usage: a reduced window-to-wall ratio provides necessary daylight while reducing unwanted heat gain; a reflective roof reduces absorbed solar radiation; and material-efficient designs for the ground floor slab, intermediate floors, and exterior walls minimise embodied carbon without sacrificing structural integrity.
Resource usage is further reduced in the building’s interior. Hot water systems with a high coefficient of performance reduces energy consumption, with all energy consumption theoretically offset by the building’s PV system. Water-efficient water fixtures reduce potable water usage. Reduced water usage is also achieved through plant selection, allowing landscape irrigation to be drastically reduced compared to typical landscaping water usage.
